Caleb's Third Birthday

Caleb's third birthday was last Saturday! I can't believe he is three years old already!!! It is exciting to watch him learn so many things, but it's also sad--I wish I could keep him this age forever!!!

Caleb's biggest present was a baby brother.

Carson was born the day before Caleb's birthday.

So we celebrated early. Chris had Martin Luther King's Day off from work. So we spent the day celebrating Caleb's birthday together. We had so much fun!!

We made cupcakes together:

Caleb LOVES to help us make anything and everything in the kitchen.

This is for my brother, Kody!

Notice the kind of cake mix we used? With "pudding in the mix?" When we were kids, my brother and I decided to make a cake. We put it in the oven and it looked done on the outside even though it had only been in like half the time it was supposed to. So we took it out and sliced it up--only to have it gush all over. But we noticed the box said, "pudding in the mix," so we thought it was just the pudding that was coming out. We are a couple of smart ones. Every time I see "pudding in the mix" on a cake box, I have to giggle.

Anyway. Caleb got to open all his presents from us:

Here are a couple of his favorites:

The kid LOVES trucks!

This is a video of one of his other favorites. I was trying to explain to someone exactly what it was, but here is the video instead.

Caleb LOVES airplanes. He can be seen walking with us through any store, or to get the mail, or wherever, with his arms out like an airplane and making the sounds of the airplane. He has to show (and have them fly) this Geo Air thing to everyone that dares enter our house these days.

We also went to Chuck E Cheese as a family and then took in a movie together--Madagascar 2. That night we did the whole sing Happy Birthday and blow out the candles. We actually sang and blew out the candles about ten more times over the next few days. Anytime we went to have some cake, he would ask to do the candles/sing thing. We figured...why not?!? He is very proficient at blowing candles out now. :)

His other big present was to celebrate his birthday with the Plumlees. Caleb absolutley loves them and I know they spoiled him a bit. He came home with a big truck that I think they let him pick out from the store! What a spoiled boy!!!

Then when we came home from the hospital, he had presents waiting for him on our front porch from the postal man from all his grandparents. So we had another round of opening gifts. I'd say he made out pretty well this year, huh?!? Thanks for the gifts guys...he loves everything he got! We love you and miss you tons!

At his third birthday, here are some of the things Caleb loves:

He would live outside if I let him. He loves to ride his bike and is very good at it now. We are trying to find a bigger one for him. We found one he loved at Christmas and now we can't find it again! I hate that!!

Caleb still likes to line things up anywhere and everywhere:

Caleb LOVES to play the game Candy Land and is very good at it. I swear he gets that ice cream card every stinkin time. Not that I'm bitter.

He also loves to be a ham, just like his dad. He would make a great game show host. He likes to use the microphone and likes to "announce" all kinds of stuff. I'll have to do a post about this in and of itself.

Caleb also loves to be on the computer and is very good at it. He can navigate anywhere he wants to go using the mouse and the keyboard. His favorites are pbskids.org and the Elmo game he got from the Giani Mob (thanks, guys!)

During the last few months, Caleb has been very into his letters, numbers, colors etc. EVERYWHERE we go, he reads off letters from various signs and then asks, "What that says, mom?" It's cute, but sometimes gets tedious! :) He can spell his name...and on good days, can spell mom and dad too.

I'll have to do a post with his 3 year old pictures later, as I haven't had a chance to go do them yet. They'll have to be his 3 year plus a couple weeks pictures. We missed having a big party with lots of friends this year, but we did enjoy our little bit of family time together.

We LOVE our little man so much. He brings so much fun and laughter into our lives. He is such a happy guy and is a huge helper. I don't know what we would do without his fun and loving little spirit in our home! Love you, Caleb!!

Happy Birthday to Caleb! Not too many little boys would be happy with a sibling as a birthday present. :) It's fun ot have a quiet birthday once in a while. It sounds like you celebrated just as much as if there were a big party to go to. I love that flight toy. It's pretty awesome! And of course, we LOVE that he still loves the Elmo game! :)
